Dear Alumnus,

We are proud to announce that the Alumni Association is in its third year of continued existence, thanks to the present Core Committee, ably led by its President, Dr. Subodh Jindal (1967) and Secretary, Dr. Siddarth Ramji (1973). The New Delhi Bhavan's Mehta Vidyalaya's Alumni strength, spread across the globe, is 1688 today from a mere 300 in 1996. We have lived up to the expectations and kept our promises by conducting various popular activities, the year round.

The mega event of the year - Annual Alumni Lunch, proved to be a disappointment. Contrary to our expectations and belief, the attendance was poor. The electrifying presence of Shri Venkatachalam, former Principal, however made the day. A hard core Tamilian, Mr. Venkatachalam sang a perfect Punjabi Song with immaculate pronunciation and lan.

Pursuant up with our commitment and tradition, the Association honoured the following Teachers on completing 25 glorious years with this Institution:

Mrs. Krishna Dutta Mrs. Swadesh Kumar Mrs. Lata Kankan Mrs. Manjula Gupta

The Sports day of the Bhavanites on the 15th October was a big success. Stung by the fact that the School Team was held to a draw last year in Basketball, this time they came well prepared. The Bhavanites were beaten fairly and squarely though they lead 8 - 2 at half-time. The score 27 - 21.

Next on line was the Volleyball match between the Bhavanites and the Faculty. Our team consisted of veterans from the '76, '83 and '84 batches. The faculty led by the Principal suffered defeat at the hustings.

We invite your views & suggestions. View photographs of this year's Dinner by clicking on the "Photograph" button on the left.

We have introduced a page of links that shall take you to the various Alumni Associations of the Bhavan's Educational Institutions, pursuing the CBSE 10 + 2 system and also to the other relevant sites on the Internet relating to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

Remember, organisations need money for their activities. As we gradually expand our network, we need your regular Subscription. Send in your subscription if you have not yet done so. Realising the logistics and difficulties in remembering it each year, the executive decided upon a Life-membership scheme, the details of which are mentioned in the Volume VIII of the Newsletter, and also can be viewed by clicking on the "Subscription" button on the left. Fourteen Alumni have subscribed for Life Membership till date.

Volume IX is now on-line !   Click 'Newsletter' on the left

Our letters to Editor section introduced in Volume VI, proved very popular and we did receive a couple of letters criticising & praising us and also received some good suggestions. Do send in your letters slamming us, appreciating us or suggesting us and we promise to publish them in our forthcoming Newsletters as space permits.

Do inform us about any change in your Profile (Address, Tel/Fax #, E-mail, Occu etc.)
